Pride Month is finally here, and we are so elated to celebrate - starting with what we watch on TV! Heartstopper - Netflix

The brand-new series, based on the graphic novel series, follows shy Charlie, who quickly falls for the widespread, rugby-loving boy Nick - who begins to question his own sexuality after discovering that he also has feelings for Charlie. Meanwhile, their group of friends are also discovering themselves and their sexualities in a truly pleasant series that viewers have adored. The first known discussion of Homosexual issues on the BBC was in  ‘Homosexuality and Christianity’ was a radio discussion programme, and followed a reading of Dr. Sherwin Bailey's book ‘Homosexuality and the Western Christian Tradition’. This marked the commence of the BBC’s comprehending of its LGBTQ+ audience as BBC History discovers.

Homosexuality and Christianity, was transmit at on a Tuesday evening on the BBC Third Programme, the latest day equivalent of BBC Radio 3.

Although there may have been earlier examples, this appears to be the first programme on the BBC to directly address what was then generally thought of as the ‘problem’ of homosexuality.

The programme indicates an approach to serving the Homosexual audience that was to last for some time.

From tune, history, documentary and entertainment, the BBC is bringing together a comprehensive collection of titles on TV and Radio that emphasize on the LGBTQ+ experience to commemorate 50 years of Pride.

On TV, programmes will run throughout June on BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four with titles available as a devoted collection on iPlayer. Whilst Radio includes the Loud and Haughty season on BBC Radio 6Music plus podcasts and series on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds.
