Bishop T.D. Jakes, pastor of the Potter’s House megachurch in Dallas, has again decided to use his position as one of the most influential African-American pastors in the territory to publicly bash same-sex attracted people. Jakes appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s new discuss show, Oprah’s Next Chapter, on Sunday and declared that he believes homosexuality is “condemned by the scriptures.”

Oprah: “Would you say that everybody is embraced in your church?”
Jakes: “Oh, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely.”
Oprah: “Because you know that you’ve been accused of saying that gay people would not be welcome.”

On Jan. 3, Jermaine Jakes was arrested in a sex sting for openly soliciting homosexual sex from an undercover vice detective in a universal park just a few blocks from his father&#;s church, The Potter&#;s Dwelling, a 30,member megachurch in Dallas, Texas.
The arrest warrant affidavit filed by Dallas police detectives on Jermaine Jakes stated the following:

While T.D. Jakes, pastor of the Potter’s House megaministry, has cited scheduling conflicts for the cancellation of his St. Louis speaking engagement next Friday at the Chaifetz Arena. But some are speculating that the release of information concerning his son’s arrest may have led to his decision. Jermaine Jakes faces a charge of indecent exposure comparable to an incident in a southern Dallas park last month, Dallas police said.
Jermaine Jakes, 29, is accused of exposing himself in front of an undercover Dallas police vice detective at Kiest Park, near West Kiest Boulevard and South Hampton Highway, on the night of Jan. 3, police said.
According to a Dallas Police Department arrest warrant affidavit, Jakes exposed himself to two undercover vice detectives at Keist Park.
The affidavit says Jakes walked up to one of the detectives at the park with his pants unzipped. Jakes then began to masturbate while making eye contact with the detective, according to the affidavit.
The detectives arrested Jakes on a charge of indecent exposure.
He was detained at the scene and released.

Bishop T.D. Jakes, the homophobic Dallas megachurch pastor whose son was arrested last week after uncovering himself and masturbating in front of law enforcement officers during a sex sting in a general park, released a utterance over the weekend (which he also read to his congregation) distancing himself from his son's behavior by pointing out that Jermaine Jakes is an adult. Bishop Jakes also says that his son is being shown a “restorative grace” indicative of his ministry.
According to the Dallas Voice, Jakes has said that he would never hire a sexually active gay person, has spoken out against lgbtq+ marriage, and has called homosexuality a “brokenness.”
Jermaine Jakes turned himself in to police last Thursday on an indecent exposure charge.
