And the Daryl and Carol fans go wild!

One of The Walking Dead's biggest mysteries is one that hasn't actually ever been addressed on the AMC strike series: is Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) gay? Speculation has run rampant about the character's sexual orientation since August, prior to season five's premiere, but fans finally got an answer from comic book creator Robert Kirkman on Talking Dead after Sunday's midseason finale.

"We act Daryl Dixon as being somewhat asexual on the reveal. He's a very introverted character and I think that's some of his appeal," Kirkman said. "I do acquire to clear something up, though: in the letter column of the comic book that I do, I mentioned that there was a possibility first on about making Daryl Dixon's ethics gay."

Of course, this lead to a massive online reaction. One Kirkman was quite aware of.

"It caused quite a hubbub online and I just wanted to clarify that the possibility is there and th

Is 'Walking Dead' Heartthrob Daryl Dixon Gay? Show's Executive Producer Responds

&#; -- As “The Walking Dead” gears up for its fifth season premiere on Sunday, one of the buzziest issues among fans is if Daryl Dixon, the show’s rugged zombie-hunting heartthrob, is gay.

But executive producer Greg Nicotero floated a completely different theory.

“I ponder he’s a virgin in my opinion,” Nicotero told ABC's Dan Harris in an interview for "Nightline." “I don’t think Daryl has ever been seal enough with anyone to have sex so I always imagined that he’s a shy year-old kid who doesn't know how to handle the emotions that he has but has feelings for people on the show that he is close to but I never really imagined one way or the other that he’s had sex.”

Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, is the show’s breakout star who is handy with a crossbow, as in, he can put arrows through "walkers'" heads with ease. The quiet character’s admire life, which is mostly non-existent, has often been a hot topic among fans who want to know whether he’ll strike up a r

I have been a fan of zombies for years now, something that started because of the Resident Evil game series. This is why I started to watch AMC’s The Walking Dead, a TV show based on the comics of the equal name. One of the main characters in the show is fan-favorite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), and recently Robert Kirkman made a statement about the crossbow wielding survivor’s sexuality.

The question about Daryl’s sexuality was asked about in a fan letter for The Walking Dead # In the letter, the fan drew parallels between Daryl and Jesus. For those of you who don’t know, Jesus is quite a tough character in the comic book series and he’s also gay. He appeared in issue 91 and his sexuality was revealed in issue The readers were quite surprised because of the reveal, and I appreciate that Kirkman decided to do it this way. It really tells readers not to take everything at face value and immediately think a nature is straight because their sexuality isn’t stated when they craft their first appearance. It’s similar to what Hit the Floor did near the end of Season 2.

'Walking Dead' Creator Clarifies Daryl Dixon's Sexuality

&#; -- The question of Daryl Dixon's sexuality on "The Walking Dead" has been a hotbed topic for quite a while.

Well, "Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman felt the need to distinct things up on his show "The Talking Dead" after Monday night's midseason finale.

“I can make it official, Daryl Dixon is actually straight," Kirkman said.

He added that Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus, is "somewhat asexual on the show" and that his introverted persona is probably his appeal to viewers.

Kirkman wanted to clarify up a letters column where the possibility of Daryl being gay was presented. But Kirkman and network AMC also wanted to emphasize they would have been fine with Dixon’s being gay, but that it's not the case.

Kirkman did add that "a very prominent same-sex attracted character" would be introduced in the next half of the season.

In October, "Walking Dead" executive producer Greg Nicotero floated a completely different theory than Daryl’s being gay.
