Photo Gallery: Stonewall Columbus Pride Protest and Festival returned Saturday amid nationwide No Kings protests

At a.m. Saturday, thousands of marchers took off from Broad and Steep streets and headed north to Goodale Park for the Stonewall Columbus Pride March and Festival.

Women wearing “Free Mom Hugs” shirts strolled along the edges of the sidewalk — signs reading “Queer Joy is Resistance” and “Trans People Belong” were waved as groups of nonprofit, group, political and corporate organizations walked alongside their peers toward Goodale Park.

At 11 a.m., the festivities continued with more than vendors, community resources, live entertainment and, of course, freebies, scattered throughout Goodale Park.

Stickers, beaded necklaces, pens and life-saving items such as fentanyl test strips and Narcan were among the offerings this year, with vendors selling buttons, necklaces, crocheted items and more. A DJ, dance pad and two stages hosted a variety of performers.

This year’s march and festival — themed “United in Power” — marks the 44th year of Stonewall Columbus’s Celebration

Happy Pride Month, Ohioans! Nowadays, Pride celebrations expand beyond the month of June and into the summer, so everyone has a chance to rejoice. If you’re looking for Pride events near you throughout Ohio, you’ve arrive to the right place.

No matter how you determine or if you’re an ally, there’s a Identity festival parade, festival or celebration near you. Be sure to catch a stay performance, support local vendors who attend, volunteer for a committee, or donate to the organizations putting these events together.

Many Self-acceptance events in Ohio are returning or even expanding after the pandemic changed previous years’ plans. Be sure to check with each event on schedule changes, face mask policies, whether or not they’re family-friendly, potential admission costs, and other details.

    Community Pride: Who We Are

    Who We Are

Community Event arose from the necessitate to move queer and trans people of tint from the margins to the center. It arose from the need to reject police from our spaces, because we realize well how the police seek to punish and destroy people like us. It arose from the need to be treated like full, vibrant people instead of like a marketable demographic. If you’re looking for meaningless rainbow capitalism, Stonewall Columbus has plenty of that to offer. But if you’re looking to celebrate in a way that truly pays homage to our radical legacy and that prioritizes people over earnings, then join us with Community Pride! We host a series of playfulness, free ev
