In June, diversity, equity, and inclusion take a step to the front with the celebrations of Juneteenth and Identity festival Month! These events seem to unofficially set the stage for showcasing the differences in everyone while highlighting what makes us all the same.
Juneteenth is one of the oldest recognized events in American history. When slavery was abolished in , pos did not reach everyone at the same time. In evidence, it took until June of for slaves in Texas to get word that Lincoln had released the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves.
Pride Month is also a recognized event in American history. Its origin is not one people look to as a good moment. It is one that has roots in an event that turned into a reaction of human rights, an observance that all people should be treated equally regardless of their sexual orientation, color, creed, or nationality.

Pride Month Honoring the Diversity of Families
June is Celebration Month! Taking place annually, Pride Month is a time for celebrating the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer identities that make up the Diverse population, and for noticing the historical oppression this group has faced, the obstacles they have overcome, and the renewed threats to civil and personal equality in recent years. Additionally, Pride Month is a time for uplifting and celebrating the many voices and perspectives that make up LGBTQ+, as well as raising insight about the bias and discrimination that LGBTQ+ communities continue to face to this day.
