ORLANDO | One Magical Weekend is moving its events, along with its Bear Jamboree events in partnership with Orlando Bear Pride, from the traditional first weekend in June to the weekend before to dodge being held on the identical weekend as WorldPride

“Our goal is to support WorldPride’s efforts to facilitate and inspire the LGBTQIA+ community in every aspect as we celebrate Pride Month,” said Tom Christ, co-founder of One Magical Weekend, said in a press release. “We have always kicked off Pride Month in Orlando by hosting our event the first weekend in June, but with WorldPride slated for that weekend we are moving our event date. With aligned missions, we would like to give people the opportunity to experience both events rather than making what may be a difficult decision to choose one.”

Disney World celebrates Identity festival Month with displays, food and more

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — June is the month when many celebrate Celebration. And just prefer years before, Disney World is marking the occasion with photo walls, unique merchandise, treats and more.

The themed photo walls have been added to all four theme parks — Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Each backdrop features the rainbow colors and the word “love.”

One of the modern photo backdrops present this year is a mural proximate the entrance to the Connections Cafe at EPCOT. The mural depicts the outside of Spaceship Earth with rainbow colors above it and the pos “Love” in the center.

At Disney Springs, there are two Pride-themed displays, including one with Mickey Mouse’s gloves forming a rainbow-colored heart. Banners that say “Share your Pride at Disney Springs” have also been installed at the complex.

Let’s clear things up: what is Gay Days, exactly?

To begin, let’s clear up a common misconception. Many online articles and blogs don’t correctly explain what Gay Days actually refers to. Even fewer involve the full array of all there is to do during a Male lover Days / Disney Event event.

Let’s learn some swift history!

Since at least , LGBTQIA+ folks have been meeting up — via their own community-organized events — at Disney parks. They simply called it Gay Days.

The name stuck.

In the late 90’s, an event organizer incorporated the name Gay Days Inc. and trademarked their URL. Today, they’re just one of many professional companies that hosts events, parties and meetups during various weekends in Orlando and Anaheim. Some are free and open to the public, others are ticketed and held in personal venues.

These events often overlap, so they compete a bit for visitors and attendees.
